Hello and welcome to Woodstar School.
We are an independent Department for Education-approved special school in the London Borough of Haringey. We are rated Good by Ofsted (February 2017).
We offer life-changing learning for children aged 3 to 11 who have movement disorders due to conditions such as cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury or global development delay. The children we work with also often have associated difficulties such as moderate or severe learning difficulties, communication delay or disorders or sensory processing.
We teach children how to develop their abilities, regardless of their starting point, so they can be as independent as possible.
We foster each child’s true potential by addressing all their developmental needs. Through our Learning for Living ethos we tailor all activities to provide exciting opportunities for children to gain practical life skills.
We also offer a range of integrated therapies to support each child’s development across all aspects of their life.
We also have a high staff:pupil ratio to meet each child’s individual Education Health and Care Plan.
We are committed to offering our pupils the best opportunities to suit their learning needs. For some children, this may include a part-time dual placement with a mainstream school or nursery.
We are very proud of our school and the achievements our children make. Our ultimate aim is for every pupil to achieve as much independence as possible to that they can live a fulfilled life.
