What is a Parents’ Hub and why is it necessary?
Jo Honigmann, CPotential CEO, says:
“I am constantly shocked and saddened when parents tell me that often the first time they are aware of support and services available for them and their child is when they come to our Centre. Despite the internet, there is still a dearth of information at the time parents need it most.
At a time of devastating cuts to services and benefits for disabled people, access to timely advice and information is all the more crucial. And that’s why we want to create a Parents’ Hub as a key feature of our new Centre.
The Hub will be a warm and welcoming space for parents and carers where they can access information across a range of areas such as education, health, social care, benefits, cerebral palsy and Conductive Education.
It will offer a comfortable and supportive environment where parents can meet each other and exchange ideas and information. In the warmer months it will open out onto the sensory roof garden.
We are delighted that, thanks to wonderful support at our Gala Dinner in May 2016, we have been able to secure the funding necessary to build the Parents’ Hub.”
