A A+ A++

We offer weekly one-to-one and group speech and language therapy sessions with our specialist Speech and Language Therapist.

Our approach

We acknowledge and nurture each child’s attempts at communications, no matter what form they take. We build on these with the methods that best suit the child. If a child needs help understanding language, we’ll supplement this with visuals or contextual cues. We aim to develop their ability to communicate whether they use speech, sign language, low tech aids such as objects of reference and communication books, or high tech communication aids such as switches and eye gaze technology.

Who are the sessions for?

Children and young people aged 0-18 years who experience communication difficulties.

How long are the sessions?

The sessions generally last half an hour but we may suggest longer or shorter sessions based on your child’s needs.

What happens in the session?

We will provide a tailored programme depending on your child’s individual needs. It may include work on oro-motor skills, speech, understanding or producing language, alternative communication methods or social skills.

How can parents/carers help?

We encourage parents or carers to come as ‘communication partners’ to the sessions with your child. This helps you learn techniques to help your child practise communication skills at home.

How long will I have to wait for my child to start sessions?

You will need to come first to our Communication Advisory Clinic before your child can start our sessions, but we can see you within a week of your enquiry.

How much do the sessions cost?

We charge a fee, which varies depending on the length of session agreed for your child. For more information, please contact us.

We are grateful to The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Charity,  The Atkin Foundation and PF Charitable Trust for their generous grants towards our speech and language therapy provision.
