Could you be our new Speech and Language Therapist?
Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7)
We are looking for a highly specialist speech and language therapist with extensive knowledge and expertise working with children with cerebral palsy or acquired brain injury, who need specialist support with their communication skills.
Many of the children who come to Woodstar School and nursery, our Early Intervention and Sessional Services and our Communication Advisory Clinic have a wide variety of needs, both physical and cognitive. Some of the children are verbal and others non-verbal.
You should be highly familiar with Alternative and Augmentative Communication and dysphagia, and have a good knowledge of Makaton/Signalong.
You will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary staff team, independently managing a small caseload.
You will provide assessment, individual and group therapy, staff training and ongoing advice to staff as well as contributing to and attending annual reviews, IEPs and, as necessary, tribunals on behalf of the Centre and school.
You will be reporting to our Head of School, who is herself a clinical specialist speech and language therapist and you will receive clinical peer supervision.
If you have any queries, please contact Kath Hewson.
