We’re delighted to have been awarded a grant from the disability organisation Scope, to deliver a range of fully funded creative activities for children and young people with movement disorders, and their families.

Groundswell Arts LogoTo help deliver these interactive workshops, we’ve partnered with local Haringey charity Groundswell Arts.

The Groundswell Arts team is a talented bunch, who also work with a variety of artists to deliver super fun and creative sessions for children and young people aged 4 and above, with a primary movement disorder. (Depending on the session, younger is fine). Siblings welcome!

Here are our session dates for 2024, so please book ahead, and share the word with other families you think could benefit:

Saturday 13th January – 10.30am to 12.30pm – Beanstalk Arts Winter Warmer Music and Storytelling session

Join the fabulous Becky Dixon for some special Wintery storytelling and music-making to ease in the new year and a new term of Creative Club.  Storyteller, educator, cellist and musician Becky Dixon will host this session and is sure to help us to shake off the winter blues. Becky is the Director of the thriving Beanstalk Arts based in Southeast London they run inclusive music and storytelling workshops with schools, pre-school groups and community centres inclusivity, high quality musicianship and participant centred joy are values that lie at the heart of Beanstalk’s work. Saturday 27th January – 10.30am to 12.30pm – The Puppetellers (The Little Red Hen) with Tinka Slavicek

NB: When booking, please let us know if your child/children you are bringing suffer from any wheat allergies.  The performance will be between 35-45 minutes with some related crafts or making activities afterward, we will aim to start the performance by 10.45am at latest.

The Little Red Hen is a much-loved classic tale. The Little Red Hen lives in the farmyard. One day she finds some grains of wheat and decides to make some bread. But who will help her? Come and join in with the story of The Little Red Hen and lend a hand in making a most delicious loaf of bread! An interactive storytelling puppet show made and performed by Tinka Slavicek and The Puppetellers come along for some story and perhaps some baking too! Follow @tinka_slavicek – Instagram

Saturday 10th February – Morning 10.30am to 12.30pm or Afternoon 1.30pm to 3.30pm – Amazon Amy (Tiger Boat Theatre)

The performance will last approx. 45 minutes and will commence approx. 10.50am please arrive from 10.30 to allow time to be settled for the start of the show!

UH-OH! Amy’s plane has crashed – right in the middle of the Amazon Jungle!

​Amy needs to find her beautiful golden propeller so she can fix her plan and rejoin the race – but where is it?!

Join us on our journey through the jungle, as we look for the lost golden propeller, and meet some of the curious creatures that call the Amazon home. ​A leafy, interactive adventure for the littlest of explorers, with Tiger boat’s distinctive blend of storytelling, puppetry and live music. . Saturday 24th February – 10.30am to 12.30pm – Play Lab – Boxes 

Join Groundswell Arts in this big box-themed session come and get creative and explore the imaginative possibilities of a world of cardboard boxes. Join tubes and boxes together to invent giant ball runs! Make a Den or a rocket to take to space. We will use the big room for a big creative play session that will be fun for all ages! Saturday 9th March – 10.30am to 12.30am – Spring and Sushi 

NB: For families when booking, please let us know if children have any food allergies or what they can/can’t safely eat we will try to offer some alternatives for trying things or sensory play.

Join Naoko Ishihara for this Japanese-inspired session. Spring is an important time of celebration in Japan synonymous with beautiful Cherry Blossoms and new beginnings. As our winter draws to a close why not come along to the creative club and try your hand at some Japanese crafts and perhaps some Japanese cooking including sushi rolling.

Saturday 23rd March – 10.30am to 12.30pm – Story Lab – Greenscreen Workshop 

Groundswell Arts will lead the final Creative Club this term as a pop-up Story Lab. In this session, families will have the chance to make puppets and sets and use iPad filmmaking to create their own Green Screen Films. We then hope to be able to share and celebrate each other’s films at the end of the session. Bring on the popcorn! . Follow @groundswell_arts on Instagram
