Over 50 guests came to our CPotential Centre on Thursday 24 May to enjoy pitting their wits, having a laugh and raising vital funds at our Giggle and Give Quiz Night.

Top comedian Rosie Jones (shortlisted for the Rising Star award in this year’s Diversity in Media awards) provided the giggle part of the evening with an hilarious comedy set.

Richard Collins, a trustee of our friends the Amy Winehouse Foundation, kept the laughs coming and did sterling work as our quizmaster for the night. In a quiz worthy of Mastermind, Kingsley Napley LLP’s team won the evening’s honours.

In addition to the quiz, guests enjoyed a sparkling canapé reception and a delicious dinner by renowned caterers The Gatherers.

It was the first time we’ve hosted the event here at our centre in Muswell Hill. Guests enjoyed the warm, intimate atmosphere and being able to see the children’s work and photos of our Learning for Living programme in action.

Jo Honigmann, CPotential CEO, says: “A huge thank you to everyone who came, giggled and gave. Holding the event at our Centre really added to our guests’ understanding of our life-changing support for disabled children and their families and why our work is so important.”

Huge thanks to Rosie and Richard for giving their time so generously and to Helen Rayner for taking the fantastic photos to capture the evening.

  • All proceeds from the event are going towards our Learning for Living Appeal to provide more learning opportunities for the disabled children who come to our sessions and Woodstar School.

Gigglers raise over £68,000 for CPotential

They came, they giggled, they gave.

Some 150 guests raised over £68,000 at the first-ever CPotential Giggle and Give Gala Dinner to support our life-changing work with children.

The glamorous event, held at the Bloomsbury Ballroom on 29th November, featured a world class comedy line up: king of puns Tim Vine (above with lolly), Adam Hills, host of Channel 4’s ‘The Last Leg’ and the fabulous Rosie Jones and Alistair Barrie.

Jo Honigmann, our CEO, said: “We were thrilled that these top comedians gave their time and talents to make us all laugh and to help us raise much needed funds for the children and families we support.”

All proceeds from the event will go towards the work we do to help disabled children gain invaluable life skills and confidence so they can achieve their potential now and in the future.

Starry evening supports our services

5 July 2017

“Push on through – do what you believe in.”

These inspirational words from our guest speaker Sophie Christiansen CBE (pictured above with our CEO Jo Honigmann) sum up the theme of our Constellation ‘Reach for the Stars’ evening on Monday 3 July.

We were delighted to welcome Sophie to give the keynote presentation at the event, which we held in the beautiful and historic Mercers’ Hall in the City of London.

Born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, Sophie has excelled in international Para Dressage, winning no less than eight Paralympic Gold medals at the Games in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro.

She told us how she took up riding and how she’s overcome challenges along the way through a combination of grit and good humour. She talked about the importance of cultivating potential – something we strongly believe in at CPotential.

And she’s a great role model for what can be achieved, as she said: “Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Then you’ll be able to make your zone bigger and bigger and do things that you weren’t even able to imagine at the start. There will still be difficult days, but it’s about how you overcome them that counts.”

We also unveiled a short video explaining more about Conductive Education. It features Kinga, one of our Conductors, using the rhythm of songs, sensory activities and gentle exercises to help some of our youngest children develop their mobility and confidence.

Thank you to everyone who came and helped us raise over £4,500 for our Conductive Education services.

Join us for a starry evening

Sophie Christiansen

We invite you to come to our fabulous Constellation Event, an  inspirational evening for women and friends, on Monday 3 July. Tickets are going fast!

We are delighted that Equestrian Extraordinaire Sophie Christiansen CBE, Paralympic Gold Medallist, will be our guest speaker at this exclusive event.

Born with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, Sophie has excelled in international Paradressage. She will talk about the importance of cultivating potential and inspire us all to ‘reach for the stars’ – something we strongly believe in at CPotential.

Sophie Christiansen

Sophie says she is supporting this event because “I believe therapy and sport are so important for people with cerebral palsy to enable them to fulfil their potential. I’ve learnt this first-hand and I hope to influence others to benefit too.”

And she’s a great role model for what can be achieved, as she says: “Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Then you’ll be able to make your zone bigger and bigger and do things that you weren’t even able to imagine at the start. There will still be difficult days, but it’s about how you overcome them that counts.”

After the talk, guests will enjoy bubbly, gourmet canapés and networking with like-minded women and friends in the beautiful and historic Mercers’ Hall in the City of London.

They will also have a chance to win fantastic prizes, including a Sophie Hulme designer handbag and a Spa Day, in our luxury raffle.

All funds raised from the evening will support our Conductive Education work with children with movement disorders due to conditions such as cerebral palsy or acquired brain injury, enabling them to achieve their potential.

The event will be held from 6.30pm – 10pm on Monday 3 July 2017 at The Livery Hall at The Mercers’ Hall, Ironmonger Lane, London EC2V 8HE.

Tickets are available online.
