Thanks to the valiant Vanquis volunteers

Group shot of Vanquis team with CPotential staff and children

We were delighted to welcome 16 staff from Vanquis Bank to CPotential yesterday.

They swapped their usual jobs dealing with complicated legal compliance issues to brighten up our Centre.

Led by David Price, Senior Compliance Officer, and Abi Ticehurst  (both centre in the photo above) the team got stuck into a variety of jobs: painting the playground fence in our brand colours, freshening up our playground shed and benches, some heavy duty weeding and lawn mowing.

David said: “I’d come to CPotential a few years ago with another team. I’m delighted to be back, this time bringing colleagues from both our Chatham and London offices.

“Through the Vanquis Active Community Programme, we can choose local projects and causes to support. I’d given a presentation about the great work CPotential does and it enthused a bunch of my colleagues to sign up for the day.

“It was great to do the ‘makeover’ outside and, best of all, to meet the children, some of whom lent a hand with the painting!”

Simon Carruth, our Acting CEO, said: “We are all hugely grateful to the Vanquis team for giving their time, energy and dedication today, especially as it was a very hot day. The tremendous work they’ve done in our playground and garden has brought new life to the Centre, making it an even more fun environment for the children.”

Below are some photos to give you a flavour of the amazing transformation the team did.

  • We’d love to hear from more companies, who’d like to support our services.

We couldn’t do it without you

31 May 2019

It’s Volunteers Week 2019 and we want to say a Big CPotential Thank You to all our wonderful volunteers who give up their time to help in our shops and Centre.

Spending a few hours a week with us is a great way to really make a difference.  As Juliette (below) says: “I soon realised that even a little of my time every week goes a long way in helping others.”

Could you help spruce up our garden (and keep fit at the same time)? Or help our children enjoy their lunchtimes? Or are you a dab hand at databases?

If so, we need YOU – do check out our latest volunteering opportunities.

You can learn about how we support disabled children, see how a charity works, meet lots of different people and, in the process, pick up some handy job skills and experience. Whether you’re young and doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award or not so young but with some time to spare we’d love to hear from you.

Juliette says:

“I’ve been volunteering at CPotential for about six years. I live near the Centre and wanted to do some voluntary work so this was perfect. I soon realised that even a little of my time every week goes a long way in helping the children.

I come in once a week. I help to feed children who can’t feed themselves, read stories to them to help their visual stimulation and generally support the team, who do an amazing job. But they can always do with an extra pair of hands.

The children constantly amaze me with their determination – and not a day goes by without a smile!”
