Launching Creative Club – Fully Funded Saturday Activities

6 April 2023

Scope disability charity logoWe’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded a grant from the disability organisation Scope, to deliver a range of fully funded creative activities for children and young people with movement disorders, and their families.

We’ll be running 24 fun workshops on a Saturday across 12 months, and to help deliver these interactive workshops, we’re excited to announce a partnership with the local Haringey charity Groundswell Arts.

The Groundswell Arts team will be bringing in various artists across the year to lead sessions in family songwriting, puppet making, storytelling, and cause and effect as well as seasonal craft sessions around Halloween and Christmas.

So, this month, we’re launching our very first Creative Club.

What is Creative Club?

Our Creative Club project has been designed to connect with the community and offer a range of fun and free activities for children and young people aged 4 and over, with a primary movement disorder.

Our project objective is to help people build resilience, promote wellbeing and participation, and reduce isolation, which may or may not be a result of the pandemic.

When is the first Creative Club and what will we be doing?

  • Saturday 22nd April from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm
  • Puppet Making and Storytelling. Led by Artist, Tinka Slavicek

The workshop will involve a performed interactive puppet story with musical support. The story is based on ‘The Dragon of the Ordinary Family’ by Margaret Mahy and will be told/performed using clay and natural materials for the family and characters. There will also be some sensory interactions throughout, with the use of scarves, water sprays, and musical instruments – involving the audience.

Light refreshments will be provided.
