Summer Snapshot: Highlights from the Year So Far

12 June 2025

As we step into summer, we’re looking back at what’s already been an incredible start to 2025 here at CPotential. From powerful therapy blocks to record-breaking marathon fundraising, the past few months have been packed with progress, purpose and positivity.

Happy reading – and enjoy the photo highlights we’ve shared throughout, capturing some of the special moments from our year so far!

Bobath Baby Course at CPotential

Back in January, we were delighted to host the Bobath Baby Course with Cerebral Palsy England, welcoming expert clinicians Raj Rajan, Marie Stanley, and Yolly Broek to the centre. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together therapists and families for hands-on, practical sessions focused on early support for babies with cerebral palsy.

Therapy Highlights: Making Strides

Our February and Easter Intensive Therapy blocks brought fantastic outcomes for the children and families we support, with real strides made in their development. We’re now gearing up for our Summer Intensives – always a highlight in our therapy calendar.

Welcoming New Talent

We’ve also been thrilled to welcome six brilliant students from City St George’s, University of London– Joe, Soma, Trisha, Muhyan, Priscilla and Archie – who’ve been working closely with our team and families, bringing fresh energy and insight to our work.

Sharing Knowledge, Building Awareness

Our team has been busy beyond the centre too, sharing our knowledge and passion for integrated therapy and early intervention with wider audiences. This year we’ve presented at the Irwin Mitchell Conference, the Conductive Education Conference, and Kidz to Adultz – helping to raise awareness of the power of neuro-tech and holistic therapies. Plus, attending the online Slater & Gordon and Neuro Rehab Times CP Webinar to meet other charities working towards the same goals.

Rich - Marathon Runner for 2025Marathon Magic

Meanwhile, our Community Fundraiser, Luisa recruited a phenomenal 10-strong running team that took on the iconic London Marathon, raising an incredible £27,000+ in support of our work – a huge thank you to everyone involved! We only have 4 places for 2026, and they’re all filled. But, don’t forget, if you have a ballot place, you can still support CPotential, and Luisa will look after you 🙂

Supporting Families Beyond Therapy

We’re also proud to have launched two new support partnerships for parents and carers: one with LAPIS offering psychotherapy, and the other with the Almond Tree Foundation delivering wellbeing group sessions. Additionally, Charlie Lyons of ConnectIn hosted a fantastic wellbeing webinar exclusively for our CPotential families.

Creative Contributions and Community Kindness

We’ve also been the grateful recipients of a generous book donation from the Children’s Book Project, helping to enrich our children’s learning and leisure time. March was all about raising awareness – from Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month to Music Therapy Week and National Siblings Day, where the children created heartfelt artwork for their brothers and sisters.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to one of our amazing CPotential parents, who raised £600 in celebration of their child’s birthday – a truly thoughtful and generous way to give back.

We were deeply moved and inspired by two incredible individuals who shared their personal journeys of living with cerebral palsy this spring. Sarah Ismail, a writer and disability advocate, offered powerful insights into navigating the world with humour, resilience and honesty. Maria Rodrigues shared her story of empowerment and independence, reflecting on the challenges she’s faced and the strength she’s found along the way. Their experiences resonated deeply with our community and reminded us all why representation and lived experience matter.

Partnership Power & Local Support

Gael from The Muswell Hill Club, holding the fundraising certificate for CPotentialWe’re also delighted to thank our law firm partners, Irwin Mitchell and Slater & Gordon, whose generous support is contributing to the launch of our brand new Early Intervention Pathway shortly – a major step in delivering vital therapies at the right time. And a big shoutout to our local supporters, especially The Muswell Hill Club, who recently raised an incredible £2,043 for our work – we are so grateful for your continued commitment.

Wonderful Support from Our Funders and Friends

We were delighted to welcome the Worshipful Company of Fanmakers for a lovely visit to the centre – and we’re incredibly grateful for their ongoing generosity and support. A big thank you as well to The Card Factory Foundation and the National Lottery Community Fund, among others, for their recent donations – your kindness helps us continue making a real impact.

A Warm Welcome: First Parent Coffee Morning

This season, our Family Support Manager, Rosie, hosted CPotential’s very first Parent Coffee Morning – a relaxed, friendly space for parents and carers to connect, share and support one another. It was wonderful to see some of our families attend and enjoy the chance to chat with others who truly understand their journey. We’re already planning the next one and look forward to welcoming even more of our amazing parent community soon!

Ticking Clocks Appeal: Voices That Matter

And finally, we’ve just launched our Ticking Clocks Appeal alongside our incredible lead ambassador, Emily – a campaign that highlights the urgent need for timely intervention for children with movement disorders. As part of the campaign, filmmaker Kosmo Crocco and his brilliant team produced a powerful ‘Keep the Doors Open’ video, and our CEO, Brett and ambassador Emily were interviewed live by Shay on BBC Radio London, thanks to the amazing support of Lily Tyson at Broadcast Revolution.

It’s been quite a journey already this year, and none of it would be possible without your continued support and engagement. Thank you for being part of our community – we look forward to seeing what the rest of the year holds!
