Trip trapping and learning
“Who’s that trip trapping over my bridge?” was the question on everyone’s lips today.
The children of Woodstar School and nursery delighted parents and other visitors today with their lovely performance of The Billy Goats Gruff, complete with a narrator, a grumpy troll, excellent musicians and singers and, of course, three goats called Sam, Tom and Ben.
It was the culmination of a month’s hard work, with the children learning and practising lots of Learning for Life skills.
Class teacher Dasha Connolly explains: “The children learnt the story and what they each had to do. It helped their understanding of telling a story in order and remembering their parts. They also discovered new textures (including real sheep’s wool) as they helped to make the goat puppets and the show’s poster.”
After the show, the older children also showed off their customer service skills by selling everyone refreshments and handling the money.
Well done to all the children, teachers and Conductors (not forgetting Glen on the guitar) for all their hard work and entertaining us so ‘trip trappingly’.
